This year the Student Recruitment and Admissions and Global Engagement Green Impact team have been working a bit closer to home than last year’s Twinning Toilets project. They have been using their crafting skills to brighten up the Castelayn Residential Home. Before Christmas the team held a series of lunchtime sessions where staff used leftover materials donated by the team to make sensory sleeves and a tree with detachable leaves.
Patti and Alice from the team have also been in to paint some beautiful flowers on the walls. Much of this was made possible by donations from staff and the Estates and Facilities Management decorators of part-used tins of paint. The team are going back at the beginning of March to drop off the sensory sleeves and paint a Victorian street image. We can’t wait to see the result!
The team’s student volunteers have also created a great poster to commemorate all their fantastic hard work, a copy of which is going to be presented to Castelayn. There are going to be further crafting sessions every Wednesday lunchtime between 12 and 2pm in the Arts Tower Level 3 kitchen. Everyone is welcome to join the team in stitching, crocheting and knitting even more sleeves, and donations of more materials are always appreciated!
