Green Impact Projects Assistants – roll up, roll up!

As the new academic year begins (how is it that time already?!) we open up this year’s applications for Green Impact Project Assistants.

Keen on sustainability? Want to do your bit in making the University of Sheffield a cleaner and greener place? Enjoy working with others on new and exciting projects? Want to gain some all-important HEAR accreditation?

Then this could be the role for you!

What is Green Impact?

Green Impact is an environmental accreditation and award scheme.  Teams are formed in different departments, faculties etc and throughout the year work on completing a workbook made up of essential actions and projects. Over the year’s, teams have designed and implemented a wide range of projects, allowing them to focus on the areas that they are passionate about. Past projects have included setting up a community garden, organising an annual ‘Green Festival’, opening a community fridge and many more!

At the end of the year, once workbooks are submitted, an Awards Ceremony is organised to celebrate the achievements of the team’s and all their hard work.

For some teams, having the help from Green Impact Project Assistants (GIPA’s) is crucial in the success of their work on Green Impact. This is where you can come in!

What is a GIPA and what does it involve?

GIPA’s are students who are matched up with team’s to support them throughout the year with their Green Impact workbooks.

This is a voluntary role, from mid October 2019 until March 2020 when workbook submissions are due. Four hours a month is the commitment criteria for this role. You will also be continually supported throughout the year by the Sustainability Project’s Assistant.

This is a great opportunity and there is usually a high number of applicants, but please bear in mind before applying that this is a long term commitment and you will be an important asset to your team – so don’t let them down!
