The SU Sustainability Committee has made some amazing gains this year! They’ve had their proposal for a sustainability strategy approved by the university executive board, thanks to their work and the support of other students. The university will now start writing their sustainability strategy, which will mould the university for many years to come.

To make sure that this strategy reflects the ambitious aims of the students, the Sustainability Committee will be holding a consultation tomorrow night. If you can’t make the event, you can also give your views online here.

Both the results of the online consultation and the event will be presented to the people writing the strategy by Meg, the SU Development Officer. This consultation will be an opportunity for members of the university to come and construct what our vision is for the strategy. This will be based around five themes:

– Quality Education

– Affordable and Clean Energy

– Sustainable Cities and Communities

– Responsible Consumption and Production

– Climate Action

This is a big and exciting moment for the University to potentially do something incredible, but it will only happen if we let them know it is wanted. So make sure you have your say!

You can find the event here and keep track with the sustainability team’s Facebook or join the mailing list.
