Green Impact’s Go Green Week 2015 is all about recycling!
We have set ourselves a target of 70% general waste recycled at source.
Currently, the University recycles almost 90% of its general waste either at source or through the materials recovery facility; it’s about a 50:50 split between the two.
We are currently in the process of rolling out a new co-mingled recycling system at the University. This means that paper, card, plastics and tin can all be put into the same bin. For more information on recycling at the University, take a look at our Environment pages.
Throughout the University, staff have been answering a survey to help us better understand personal recycling habits. We will be using the results of this survey to inform our waste strategy.
If you are a staff member at the University and would like to share your thoughts on recycling at the University, you can find the survey here.
Green Impact teams will be taking part in a workbook power week.
This means that the team who completes the most actions during Go Green Week will win a big prize!
Not only that, the team who completes the most creative use of criteria will also win a prize. This is a great chance to think about completing a special award. Or, if there’s something amazingly green you’re doing in your department, don’t forget to put it in the workbook this week.
If that wasn’t enough, we will be awarding each team who completes 10 actions a prize too!
If you haven’t yet got started on the workbook, Go Green Week is a great chance to get some recognition and get the Green Impact ball rolling. It’s also a great chance for Green Impact Project Assistants to get involved in assisting with the workbook – plus, if you’re a GIPA and you have a creative green criteria idea, let your team know!
The race starts on the 9th!
People and Planet are holding a Swap Shop on February 10th – take along any unwanted items you may have accumulated and swap them for something new! The event will be held from 11:00 to 14:00 in the Plaza in the Student’s Union.
You can use this flyer to advertise Go Green Week in your departments!
